Why I Started a Business in my 30's

Can I be real for a second?

It’s really awkward when people ask me why, at almost 30 years old, I started a video and audio production company.

The truth is, drägr productions was born out of both inspiration and frustration.

I have always been passionate about the arts, specifically music, writing, and public speaking. After honing my skills professionally for over 12 years, I knew I wanted to use my talents to create something new and impactful. I love sharing stories and impacting people’s lives, and I have found the impact visual storytelling has to be astounding.

But it wasn't just my love of the arts that motivated me to start drägr productions. I was also burnt out and frustrated in my previous field and knew I needed a change. I wanted to be able to use my creativity and skills in an environment that allowed me to bring something fresh and unique to the table, and to simply be me.

And so, with a mix of inspiration and frustration, I took the leap and started my video production company. I'm so glad I did because it has been an incredibly rewarding journey so far. I have the opportunity to work with amazing clients and create videos that make a difference.

I get to be the one keenly watching a groom’s face as he turns to see his bride for the first time.

I get to capture real moments for children in foster care, as they discover what it means to belong.

I get to help provide resources for people who are struggling to market their business or brand.

Pretty sweet, right?

Even though inspiration and frustrations were the seeds that planted this company, it’s been carefully tended by empathy, joy, and passion.

Now that's what I call a win.
